SINGAPORE, 17 August 2018 – Known for a menu that brings a light touch to the big flavours of regional cuisine, COMO Cuisine is sharing its kitchen secrets to home chefs of every level. From enabling a competent cook to recreate the pleasures of a restaurant meal at home, to equipping the culinary novice with the basics to get over their kitchen trepidation, the Master Class series is an immersion in creating healthful and flavoursome food in the comfort of your home.

Held over three sessions, the Master Class series will focus on Herbs, Spices and Oils. COMO Cuisine Executive Chef Timothy de Souza, who has helmed the restaurants of the COMO Cocoa Island (the Maldives) and COMO Parrot Cay (Turks and Caicos) resorts, will demonstrate how to add new depths and enhance flavours to your fare with these chosen ingredients.

Sourcing the best seasonal, local, organic and sustainable bounty for each Master Class from organic retailer SuperNature, and gastronomic purveyors Culina and COMO Marketplace, Chef Timothy will use the best cooking techniques to develop or unlock these ingredients’ inherent flavours. He will also share the best ways to pair ingredients in order to release a delectable medley of flavours, or to capitalise on their unique textures, which have key roles to play in the taste of a dish.

The COMO Group believe in wellness from within. Beyond tantalising your tastebuds, COMO Shambhala Urban Escape Singapore’s registered dietician and nutritionist Eve Persak will also delve into the role of ingredients and food in achieving one’s wellness goals. A board certified specialist in dietetics, Eve will describe each ingredient’s intrinsic benefits and dispense advice on the preparations and combinations that are best absorbed by the body.

Each Master Class session is complemented by a cooking demonstration of three selections – appetisers, soups, salads, desserts or mains. Each dish will showcase a star ingredient, and participants can gain hands-on experience by taking part in the preparation of the meal. The recipes covered in the Master Class series include favourites from the COMO Cuisine menu, as well as dishes developed exclusively for the series.

The Master Class by COMO Cuisine offers a unique opportunity to get up close and personal with COMO’s culinary and nutrition experts, and receive personalised culinary tips while gaining new knowledge about nourishing yourself with food. Above all, as participants sit down for a private luncheon to enjoy the dishes they have learnt to prepare, they will gain a newer and deeper appreciation for the artistry and love that goes into the creation of delicate, harmonious flavours.

Timothy de Souza’s experience in COMO Cuisine runs deep, having worked at COMO Cocoa Island (the Maldives) and COMO Parrot Cay (Turks and Caicos). His professional career has taken him across Australia, the Maldives, the Caribbean and Japan, in forming a cooking style that combines Asian flavours and techniques with a deep respect for sourcing the finest local and regional ingredients. His last post was as Executive Chef at COMO Maalifushi in the Maldives.
